Kodachrome, telephoto and old school photography
I recently got a reminder from Dwayne’s Photo that the last day for processing Kodachrome was December 30th and I though myself, "I don't have any Kodachrome laying around, do I?"
My God, was I wrong!
I have entirely too much film in my freezer/refrigerator! Having more film than food is always a point of concern. But I only have two rolls of Kodachrome left; I gotta get out and shoot and get this to Dwayne's ASAP. Hopefully, I will get to shooting this weekend and have some Kodachrome to share with you by December.
I also, after many, many years, I finally bought a telephoto lens. I've been working with only wide and medium lenses for who-knows-how-long and bought a old Tamron 70-210mm, f/2.8. Sure, it's not my Nikkor 70-200mm but shit, I can't afford that! I'm just glad to have a different focal range to work with.
I also picked up the oddest yet greatest street camera ever last week: an old, post WWII German camera. It's a Rival Reflex, 35mm, waist level camera. I think these cameras were made by Pratika and relabeled "Rival" but I'm still trying to find more info on the little guy. It seems to be accurate, I mean, it's a German built camera and the Germans know how to make things [even if they are a bit over-engineered]. I hope to get shooting with this camera and hopefully I will have something to share with you guys.
Wish me luck in my photography endeavors and enjoy some of my favorite images that were sent in Photo--Assignment lately.
