Wow, so colorful. The bright light is really adding some touch of happiness. I know that symbolism is always personal related. So what I see in this photo may others dissagree with me, But I am gunna share it anyway.
The kid on the horse, which is symbolic to life journey. And in this case a very fast one. He is leaning to check on the future. To maybe have a little glimpse at it before the others. Behind that kid is two parents guiding the life journey of thier kids. So that they may have a bright future just like the Beautiful golden light in the background. If you take a closer look, one of the kids is bitting her nails in fear. While the other is happy communicating with her mother. Just how we look variously at our life journey.
I know I may sometimes over analyse stuff. But this is how this photo striked me. Thought to share this vision.

i think this is a great trade-off for the shot that you were initially aiming for. a great warm ambiance, and the essence of childhood.

while this shot may not have worked out the way you had planned. it is still a wonderful photo. the compostion and lighting are good. I really how you off centered the boy allowing for some movement of viewers eye in both a forward and backward. the expression on the boys face speaks of what lies ahead.
